I tried a number of times to applique the face, but couldn't capture her. Finally I took this workshop at Asilomar and learned how to paint the face.

I immediately got the patterns, asked Nancy Howard for putting-it-together advice, and off I went. It's taken three years!
	The Tropical Cat, by Alexa Gedies Pattern Name: Alexa's Block. 18 x 24 The colors around the cat represent tropical forests for her to live in. She lives with a group (the cats in the corner), and lives a wonderful life of color and fun.

	3 D Ties to My Family, by Muriel Gentile Pattern Name: Bow Tie Knot. 65 x 68 Hand Pieced, Machine Quilted Quilted by Marita Hartshorn I incorporated the bow tie knot technique into my own pattern with five circles in the middle for my five children. I dedicated the quilt to my husband, John. Piecing this quilt was very helpful in getting through the grieving process for John's passing in Oct. of 2001. The pattern is from Jackie Robinson's "Three Dimensional Patchwork Sampler."

	The Eaglet Has Landed, by Phyllis Maddox 44 x 48 Machine Appliqued, Machine Quilted I used shadow trapunto on a modification of Hari Walner's quilting pattern for the baby bird in the nest. This is for my niece's new baby girl. I chose the background because her last name, Aguilar, is Spanish for Eagle.
	My Baltimore Album Quilt...Maybe, by Kathleen McCormick Pattern Name: Les Fleurs du Jardin by Lisa DeBee Schiller. 53 x 67 Machine Pieced, Hand Appliqued, Hand Quilted I was hesitant to take on such a large hand project but Laurel and Shannon encouraged me to do it. As I worked on the quilt, I grew to love all aspects of handwork. I began in January 1999 and finished in July 2003.

	"Jewels", by Missy Shay 42 x 37 Hand Pieced, Machine Pieced, Hand Quilted, Machine Quilted In 2001 my husband and I took pictures of our dog Jewels, a German Shepherd/Beagle mix, for a friend to make a weather vane. Ruth McDowell's "Designing From Nature" workshop in April, 2002 allowed me to capture her in fabric. I love the result!
	Labor of Love, by Missy Shay Pattern Name: Les Fleurs du Jardin by Village Classics. 55 x 62 Machine Pieced, Hand Appliqued, Hand Quilted When Shannon Krasnov suggested that I take this class in summer 2000, I was overwhelmed by the quilt. Once I started it, I was hooked. I completed one section at a time and before I knew it, the top was done. Then the task of hand quilting began.
	David's Quilt, by Stephanie Shore 53 x 44 Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Made using Louisa Smith's "Strips 'n Curves" technique. I had a lovely collection of earthy tones and thought this would be a great way to use them.

	Jewel Box II, by Stephanie Shore 48 x 42 Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted Based on a design by Judy Turner and Margaret Rolfe from their book "Successful Scrap Quilts". The best part was moving the colored blocks around on the design wall before decided on a final configuration.
	Emerald Necklace Bridge, by Jean Stringham 28 x 38 Machine Pieced, Hand Embroidered, Machine Quilted My photograph of the Emerald Necklace in Brookline inspired this wall quilt. I began it in a workshop with Ruth McDowell in April 2002 and finished it that September. Machine pieced and quilted, hand embroidered.

Originally, I decided how I would use my fabric pile, but as I placed the fabrics into my intended pattern, they refused to cooperate!
	Stretched Stars, by Sylvia Weld Pattern Name: Stretched Stars. 52 x 52 Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted This beautiful blue and white star quilt top was presented at our June guild meeting, and was a complete surprise. Blocks were made by board members, and guild members were welcome to sign it (and still are). It is a special and treasured gift.
